Your Guide

Plan Your Visit

Whether it's your first pirtis experience or you're a seasoned sauna enthusiast, this guide will help you prepare for an authentic Lithuanian wellness journey.

What to Expect

A visit to a traditional Lithuanian pirtis is unlike any typical spa experience. It's a ritual that engages body, mind, and spirit over 2-3 hours.

The Experience Includes:

  • Welcome and orientation from your pirtininkas (bath master)
  • Multiple rounds of heat, steam, and rest
  • Traditional whisking (vanojimas) with birch branches
  • Cold water contrast — plunge pools, showers, or outdoor cooling
  • Relaxation time with herbal tea
  • Use of sauna facilities and amenities

Sessions are typically conducted nude or with minimal covering (towels provided). This follows traditional practice and maximizes the therapeutic benefits. If you have concerns, discuss options with your chosen pirtis beforehand.
